SFA liaises with the main players on the global fruit scene to facilitate strategic engagement and create collaboration opportunities. Partners include, for example, trade organisations in the Northern Hemisphere, logistics associations and standard setting bodies, as well as national and international governmental bodies and non-governmental organisations. In its contacts with these players, SFA champions the shared interests of the fresh fruit industry in the Southern Hemisphere, working towards an enabling operating environment for producers and exporters.
Global Coalition of Fresh Produce
SFA is a founding member of the Global Coalition of Fresh Produce, which brings together fresh produce associations from around the world, based on their joint vision to create resilient and sustainable global value chains for fruits and vegetables. The Global Coalition’s member organizations represent producers, importers, exporters, wholesalers, distributors, retailers and other actors in global supply chains for fresh fruits and vegetables, including in Africa, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and North and South America. Our membership of the Global Coalition enables us to work collaboratively to advocate on key policy issues for the fruit industry in the Southern Hemisphere.
Environmental Sustainability Solution Working Group
SFA holds the vice-presidency of the Environmental Sustainability Working Group of GlobalG.A.P., one of the leading brands of farm assurance solutions for the certification of agriculture, aquaculture, and floriculture production processes.
The main task of this group is to develop a new environmental sustainability standard, while avoiding duplication at farm level in terms of certification, promoting harmonisation with existing sustainability programmes, and enabling the cost-effective adoption of good agricultural practices.
